How can I keep fitted sheets and mattress pads on my bed?

Sheets and mattress protectors keep sliding off my mattress. How do I keep them to stay on the bed? I’ve tried pinning them, but it’s too big a hassle and does not work very well. Hello,

First a good mattress pad will help your sheets stay on the bed. Most mattresses are covered in a polyester material which is very slippery. Mattress pads are made of cotton / poly blend that has a higher surface friction allowing the sheets to cling better to it.

Mattress PadGet a mattress pad with elastic, expand-a-grip sides, with a plenty deep pocket so that it actually pulls tight underneath the mattress. Many vendors carry these. We sell exactly this type of mattress pads for just this reason. They are very quick and easy to use and stay right where you put them without slipping off. The picture of the mattress pad shows what I mean about how well the expand-a-grip sides really hug the mattress. It fits mattresses up to 17″ deep and has expand-a-grip sides to prevent slipping.

Once your mattress pad is secure, sheets will naturally stay on the bed better. However, fitted sheets with a thick elastic band all the way around the bottom keeps it pulled down under the mattress. Many less expensive sheets only have elastic at the corners, which helps, but does not make as snug fit. Corner straps, pins, velcro, etc. are a hassle and likewise do an inferior job.

High quality Egyptian cotton sheet sets and regular cotton sheets, 200-1200 thread count with deep pockets 17″ – 21″ with elastic bands all the way around the bottom, will solve your problems with the sheets slipping off the bed. They will perform better, but also last longer.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Kind Regards,

  1. David – sheet suspenders -manufacture the best ones out there, heaviest elastic in the industry, and using really good suspender clips. Lengths are adjustable too. Minis go across the corners, while the big ones go under the mattress and come up int he corners to fasten to the sheet. Big ones work best for sheets that are too big for the bed. Both work for regular fitting sheets. Also you can use non fitted sheets as fitted sheets since they are suspender clips and can hold the layers of fabric, as opposed to the cheap ones at regular bedding stores.

Comfy-Snug Drawstring fitted sheets stay put better than any other sheet with no need for suspenders or clips. They are tight and smooth all the time and self adjust to the mattress thickness. There is nothing more comfortable that nice smooth sheets. It’s like the first time getting in bed with new sheets. You just slide right in. Drawstring sheets give you that just made feeling night after night. Also the drawstring is tightened at the side of the mattress so there is no problem figuring out where the side is.
