My duvet cover is slip’n around. Help!
I have a duvet cover and the down comforter keeps slip’n around inside. It keeps falling to the foot. Help! What do I do about my situation?
That’s a problem a lot of people have. Some bedding makers include a fastening system with their duvets and comforters, but most do not. They know that most customers usually buy duvets and down comforters from different makers anyway. So the “slip’n around issue” is a common one, and there are some common solutions, the best of which include a little sewing.
1rst, because it’s my favorite, is Velcro tabs. Sew one side of the Velcro into each corner of the duvet and the other side into each corner of the comforter. They are easy to sew on and make fastening duvet and comforter simple. Once in place they are quite durable and fasten securely. Be sure to get heavy duty closures used for backpacks and similar, not the ones for lightweight use.
The 2nd best solution is ribbons. Sew 3-4” strips of ribbon into the corners of both the duvet and comforter. To use, turn the duvet inside out and tie together.
3rd best solution is loops and buttons. Sew 1” buttons on the inside of your duvet and loops at the corners of your comforter.
4rth best solution is safety pins and clips. Some bedding stores sell clips specifically for this need. They look just like chip (as in bag of …) clips, but tinier. This method is expedient, but pins and clips can be uncomfortable if they poke you.
