Does Platform Bed Support Memory Foam Mattress?

memory foam mattress platform bedI am looking at your platform bed frame. You specifically say these are good for memory foam mattresses, but everything I have read about these mattresses say they must be on a solid foundation.

The bars on your platform bed seem rather far apart. Have you used a memory foam mattress on this bed? Or do you know anyone who has? Do you recommed putting something else on top, such as a sheet of plywood or a bunky board?

I know, looks can be deceiving.

But this bed was developed specifically for foam beds. Using plywood is completely unnecessary, but it won’t hurt anything.

Both memory foam and latex foam beds have a thick non skid fabric on bottom to help protect the foam. But even without this mattress cover, if you put the foam directly on the metal grid of the base frame, the bed would still function properly.

Yes, I have one of these metal platform bed frames in my house, so I'm speaking from personal experience.

It seems like the foam would ooze through the spaces in the metal grid, but it doesn't. In fact, you can stand on the mattress and it still won't come through the spaces of the foundation surface.

I don't know why. A physics teacher would have to explain. Maybe this is the principle that allows magicians to lay on a bet of nails? : )
