Protect Your Mattress from Living Nightmares

dust mitesBe aware of the living nightmares that prey upon you as you sleep each night.  While unable to be seen with the human eye, hundreds of thousands of tiny dust mites just might be lurking in your mattress or pillow. These creatures, while not carnivorous, feed upon the dander of your skin and flourish in the moist warm surroundings of your bedding.  To most people these pest are relatively harmless, although very disgusting.  However, with the amount of dried feces and dead skin the mite leaves behind, this then becomes one of the major constituent of house dust.  House dust induces allergic reactions in roughly 30% of Americans.
While totally eliminating dust mites is unrealistic, avoiding exposure is crucial. A good mattress protector on a new or clean dry mattress is a must.  Vacuuming carpets and household fabrics is a necessity.  Washing bed linens weekly is essential. Not only will these tips help with dust allergies, but also will help keep you safe from other predators such as the infamous bed bug which delights in sucking your blood as you sleep. May your sleep be safe and sweet, free from evil nightmares.
