Luxury Bedding: Is TEMPUR® Material Different Than Memory Foam? - Part 1
Tempur-Pedic™makes there beds out of a material they call TEMPUR® . We can all assess for ourselves that it looks and feels like viscoelsastic memory foam. But the company claims TEMPUR® material is made with a special formula giving it special properties that set it apart from memory foam.
You may be familiar with the checkmark table that companies use to advertise how their product compares to other products. Down the left side of the table are all the positive qualities that the advertising product possesses. Across the top row are listed the advertising companies product and all the competitors products. The company paying for the advertising receives outstanding marks, a whole column full of checkmarks indicating they possess all the positive qualities. The competitors will get a few checkmarks, but mostly “NO” in their boxes, indicating that they do not possess many positive qualities.
The purpose of the comparison table is to give consumers a visual image of how great a product is when compared to competing product. Every company can present one of these boxes to make their product look best. In fact competing companies often use tables with the same positive qualities listed along the left side, but they each come to their own different conclusions. Company A says their product gets more checks, but company B says their product gets more checks. When you compare TEMPUR® material to memory foam, you find they share the same fundamental properties and benefits:
- Relieve pressure points
- Allows better circulation to all parts of the body
- No motion transfer
- Encourages long periods of deep sleep
- Conforms to your body
- Allergen and dust mite resistant
- Edge to edge comfort and consistency
- Not susceptible to mold or mildew
