So if TEMPUR® material looks and feels like memory foam, and TEMPUR® material has the same properties and benefits as memory foam, how is it different than memory foam?

Well, just like the comparison table that helps a company differentiate its product, using a brand name helps a product stand out in a crowd. The term “TEMPUR® material” is simply marketing language, a brand name, that Tempur-Pedic™ uses to help give their product special significance in the minds of consumers.

This is a good tactic for a company to take, not a misleading one. It sends a clear and easy signal to consumers stating exactly what a product is about and how it will benefit them. Tempur-Pedic™ produces wonderful beds that have helped many people get better sleep and improve their quality of life. They have been an industry leader, aiding the rocket of memory foam into popularity over the last 10 - 15 years.

What About the “Secret Formula?”

All foam manufacturers have their own “secret formulas.” Research and development on new foam techniques is expensive, gives companies a competitive advantage, and would not be shared with the public. Neither does Tempur-Pedic™ share its “secret formula.”

But even if we did know the chemistry and engineering that goes into TEMPUR® material, not many of us could understand it. We would still be left to our 5 senses to determine how we like sleeping on it. And we would still come to the same conclusion, TEMPUR® material looks, feels, and acts like memory foam.
